Update – Haiti Earthquake Relief
On the 14th of August Haiti was struck by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake struck in the South of the country, having a devastating impact on the cities of Les Cayes and Jeremie. Two months later thousands are still without proper shelter, a precarious situation during the rainy season.
NPH promised to help with earthquake relief efforts, initially supporting the rapid support provided by our partner St Luke hospital, with medical teams and other relief being sent to the region. Wanting to provide support that will have a lasting impact, NPH promised to rebuild 150 homes. NPH has chosen families which have links to their staff or the children that they care for.
At the beginning of October, the first expedition of goods and construction materials set off for the South. Below is a video of the expedition and the construction of the first homes. If you would like to donate, you can still do so here.
